Growing up...

Last weekend the boys were away at a Boy Scout snow lodge campout up on Mt. Hood so it was just Rissa and I all day Sunday.  Brian was working and the sun was out for the first time in weeks.  I was so thrilled by the sun that I thought it might be good to dust off the camera a bit before my next session.  I mentioned it to Carissa and she was up for it, so she got all fancied up in her new birthday clothes for a shoot.

(On a side note, thanks Grandpa for the Justice gift certificate.  She and I spent an hour or so in the store while she tried on 20 things and hemmed and hawed over which ones she wanted.  Here's what she finally ended up with... it was a really hard decision for her but she had fun.)

We went to Carissa's school where I thought we could find some good spots for photos.  The first spot I chose was here and it was the best photos we got of the whole day.  I love these two photos!
We did shoot a few more spots and even brought a frame to along for some fun shots.
But the attention span of an 11 year old being photographed by her mother is exactly 3.7 seconds, so it wasn't long until I was shooting this...
Oh the joys of tween-hood.

He's Hired...

Looks like Chase might actually has his first real job.  He got a call last week saying he was hired to work at Butte Creek Scout Camp this summer.  This has been a bit of a shock for me... the realization that he may not be around this summer and that he may be spending it learning to deal with kids and take care of himself.  Geez, he might even have to do his own laundry. ;)  It's a good thing, I know, but a lot for me to take in.

He's super excited, of course, and will be going with one of his good friends from the troop.  And he'll have Wednesday's off so we'll see about getting him home for a day or so each week.

The Birthdy Girl

Hard to believe, but our little girl turned 11 last week!
She got some cake and lots of gifts then chose a dinner of Mexican food at Ixtapa.  And she really couldn't wait until they put the big sombrero onto her head and sang her "Happy Birthday"!

Grease!

After months and months of practice and preparation, Chase performed in his high school drama class production of Grease.  He was Johnny Casino, otherwise known as the hand jive singer.  He looked absolutely hilarious and was fabulous on stage!  I watched all three nights and had such a great time each and every night.  The show was wonderful!!!

He made some good friends and had a lot of fun.
Chase had a such a wonderful time! On the way home after the final show he said to me "this is just one of those moments I'll remember forever."

Snow!

Last month the cold weather and snow finally arrived.  Each year we're lucky if we get an inch or two but this year we made up for it.  It snowed all night long and we had about 10 inches by morning.  It was only good snowman weather for a few hours, as it started warming up rather quickly.  The boys took some times to build this little guy in the front yard
Yes, Carissa was out playing down the street with her friends and didn't help make the snowman, but I did get soem pictures of her all bundled up. :)
