It's not always sunny...

Another relaxing morning today. We finished our laundry, enjoyed a little bit of sleeping in and then packed up and headed out.

Since it's a travel day and not as busy, I wanted to share something we’ve noticed on our trip. Every place we've visited has their unique flair and that really translates into their chips. There have been some interesting combinations at each of our stops and I finally decided to snap a few pictures. These are just from our last day in Scotland, so by no means comprehensive. And keep in mind that we weren’t actually doing grocery shopping so who knows what else is out there. How do you feel about all these flavors?

As much planning as you do for a trip like this, things don’t always work out. And that’s what happened today. French air traffic controllers are on strike (not all of them but enough that it affected us) so our flight to France was delayed. By the time we arrived to our AirBNB it was 5pm, much later than we had anticipated. We dropped our bags real quick and then hit the town.

The first thing we did is to go see Notre Dame. It was sad to see how devastated it was by last years fire. It’s behind fences and construction is happening. Not sure how long it will take, but much of the building is missing. It was good to see it though.

On the walk over we stumbled across The Fountain of St. Michael. Since St. Michael is the patron saint of law enforcement, it was very fortuitous that we happened upon this fountain.

We also walked through this great area with shops and restaurants. There are literally crepe places on every street here. So many crepes. Looking forward to that for breakfast tomorrow. For now, though, we grabbed dinner at one of the restaurants and then headed back to our AirBNB. And this is where things get really bad.

We have a video chat with Chase just to catch up and we keep catching whiffs if something stinky smelling. We thought maybe it was trash. When we got off the chat we went to investigate and realized that it was a sewer-type smell coming from the shower room. So gross! But it’s too late at night to do anything about it so we close the door and that helps a little. Then we head towards bed and see the comforter is stained and has hair on it. No. Just no. We end up sleeping cuddled together for warmth with just the duvet cover over us. Miserable. There is no way we are staying at this place another day!

So, there’s the not-so-sunny side of this trip. Off to go find the silver lining...
